Barbara received her advanced cello study at Curtis Institute with Gregor Piotigorsky and graduated from Juilliard School having studied with Leonard Rose and Felix Salmond. Her professional activities have included the St. Louis Symphony, and the Sydney (Australia) Symphony as assistant principal cellist. Barbara also taught and performed at Duke University with the Duke String Quartet. Subsequent years free-lancing in New York included Radio City Music Hall Orchestra, Brooklyn Symphony and Westchester Symphony. Since settling in Toronto, Barbara has worked with the National Ballet, Kirov Ballet and the Canadian Opera Company. Teaching included the string program at Crescent School for Boys, Toronto Montessori School Suzuki program and currently at Claude Watson School for the Arts.
Recent achievements of my students include an RCM medal for Grade 8 cello.
A solo performance of Popper's Hungarian Rhapsody with NT Collegiate Orchestra at Kiwanis placing 1st in class.
Also with NT Collegiate Orchestra, soloists in Bruch's Kol Nidrei, and Haydn C Major Concerto.
