Amber Ghent is both an active teacher and performer, teaching from her home in Kitchener and at the Suzuki String School of Guelph. She earned an Honours Bachelor of Music at Wilfrid Laurier under the tutelage of the Penderercki String Quartet and Paul Pulford. Graduate work included studies with Bonnie Hampton and a Master of Music Performance working with members of the Cleveland Orchestra. Amber is a trained Suzuki teacher and has also taught at the Cleveland Music School Settlement, the Fairmont Fine Arts Centre, the Kincardine Summer Music Festival, and the Oakville Performing Summer Arts Camp.
As cellist with the Madawaska String Quartet, Amber enjoys performing a wide range of repertoire throughout Southwestern Ontario. The MSQ’s new CD, featuring Schnittke’s Third Quartet as well as works by Anthony Gilbert, Bruce Russell, Mike Kane, Henry Purcell and Jose Evangelista, will be released in the winter of 2010. Amber has also performed with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Windsor Symphony, Orchestra London, Tapestry new Opera Works in Toronto, Stratford Festival Orchestra, Fredonia Bach and Beyond Early Music Festival, and held the position of Assistant Principal of the Erie Philharmonic
