Regarding my violin and Suzuki background, I was asked by interested Stratford parents via my former teacher, Alec Catherwood, to start a Suzuki Violin School in 1980. Prior to that, I had taught H.S. Art. Within 5 years I had 45 students. After 1987, when my first of three daughters was born, my studio continued in a smaller context. Currently, I am accepting new students again, all ages from 3-4 up, after doing volunteer work for the last several years in "Strong Start" (working it down to help SK students, and hopefully JK's with more help), and working on a pilot project for helping new immigrant three year olds. My studio is Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hamburg Home phone # 519-634-8149.
My Suzuki training includes attending many workshops in Guelph with Daphne Hughes and Tom Wermoth, at Stevens Point with Alic Joy Lewis, Marjorie Aber and others, at Ithaca with with Helen Brunner, Craig Timmerman, the Beausois's and many more, and more recently, at SOSI at Wilfred Laurier in Waterloo, where I was delighted to meet Linda Care again and enjoy her canny, incisive, loving, fun and very intense master classes! I have been in orchestras and ensembles of all kinds since I was in grade 4. Currently I play viola in the Kitchener Community Orchestra, and violin in the Stratford Symphony. My teachers include Tibor Zelig and Robert Gross in Los Angeles; Dorothy Pearc, Alec Catherwood and Lance Ouellette in Waterloo Region.
